Zul Andra - March 2013 Mix

March’s mix features an assortment of nuts. There’s 29-year-old Patti Smith’s irreverent monologue at one of John Giorno’s experimental poetry shindig. There’s cockney “punk poet” John Cooper Clarke. On the film side of things, we got soundtracks from “Beasts of The Southern Wild”, “Django Unchained”, “Lawless”, “Ruby Sparks”, “The Soloist” and “The Tree of Life”. Have a good month.

Mix: Volmax’s X

After listening to Emalkay’s remix of Delilah’s “Breath” and the trance track “Witness” with Jaren’s superb vocals, I was itching to do a mix —so here it is, Volmax’s X. Still keeping true to the chillstep to dubstep progression, I found a nice remix by Cally D for “Breathe” and decided to layer the acoustic version of “Witness” on top of Blackmill’s chillout track “Spirit Of Life”. I was actually thinking of doing a full female vocal mix but decided to throw in some metal-inspired dubstep production at the end —featuring two new releases. Hope you enjoy it!

Tracklist:

1) Delilah “Breathe (Cally D Chillstep Remix)”
2) Kromestar “Creeper”
3) Shura “Thinking of You”
4) Sweetheart of Kairi “Approaching Farewell (Stumbleine Remix)”
5) Controlled Kaos “Searching”
6) Sorrow “Recluse”
7) Blackmill “Spirit Of Life”
8) Jerf, Mitiska & Jaren with Rank 1 “Witness (Acoustic Mix)”
9) Rameses B feat. Charlotte Haining “I Need You”
10) MitiS “Identity”
11) Loco Sunshine “Love”
12) Littrell “No Such Thing”
13) London Nebel “Unnormal”
14) Datsik and Infected Mushroom ft. Jonathan Davis “Evilution”
15) La Musique D’Ordinateur & The Warriors “Araña PT. II”

Mix: Volmax’s VII (Throwback Special)

Image: Dan Tobin Smith

Was listening to Âme’s 2006 techy classic “Rej” a couple of weeks back and decided to do a mix of some of my favourite tracks from the yesteryears. Most of these tracks were the ones that got me hook on dance music. There are loads more that I think were pretty massive back in the day but unfortunately, couldn’t match the progression of the mix. Hope you enjoy Volmax’s VII (Throwback Special) nonetheless. [Insert smiley face]
