[PICK OF THE WEEK] STAY feat. Le Castle Vania
Avalon l Advance (Ticketbooth): $15, At the door: $25
Oct 12, 10pm
Born Dylan Eiland, the Atlanta-based DJ and producer’s moniker Le Castle Vania sounds like it was taken off a bad Dracula film. Perhaps explaining where he got his Euro-electro influence from, the mosh-pit’s favorite son sucks on the blood of disco punk and spits out electro bangers on the floor. URB labelled him as the Next 100 in 2008; three years on and he is still up there on the mark. Indie disco queen Ginette Chittick opens.

Shapeshifters: 3
Grooove l Free
Aug 8, 9.30pm, Aug 9, 1-5pm, Aug 10, 9.30pm
Who says school a dull, uninspiring textbook teaching, one-way ticket to corporate desk furnishing? Not at the third instalment of Shapeshifters as prominent artists and DJs come together to impart their creative impetus to the young ones. This year’s 3-day event promises to be even bigger and better than before with a whole host of segments, a line-up of top artists, and prizes to be given away.
With mentorship from local artists like Antz, ClogTwo, Dem, Tiffany Lovage, and Tiga Collective dishing essential graffiti art, videography and drawing tips, DJs Josh M, Kennerve, Marcus and Inqusitive will convert their DJ console into a mini-classroom for the next generation of jocks in a collaboration with DANCEnMUSIC. Best part about this school of creative awesomeness? It’s free entry for all 3 days!
