Mix: Volmax’s II

Image: The Farewell of Telemachus and Eucharis by Jacques-Louis David (c. 1818)

Here’s Volmax II which I wanted to release in February but grew too impatient. First on the mix is EMIKA -one of the most underrated artist if I ever heard one. The UK born-Berlin based singer/DJ/producer of Czech heritage is one of Ninja Tune’s most recent signing. A storyteller first, her distinctive creative knack can be found in her broody narrative further exposed by dark basslines and even darker undertones. I love her music very much.

Immediately after, Lana Del Rey (of course), Yasmin and an up-and-comer Holly Prothman fills the female vocal range. A couple of Jamie (S)Woons is followed by three UNKLE tracks that goes from the haunting to the rocking -thanks to Noel Gallagher. Brandon Boyd’s solo endeavour is also featured leading to some crazy dubstep wobbles from Nero and Dodge & Fuski.

Free to download, enjoy 54 minutes of 15 tracks including a monologue from the film Spun right at the end. Thanks for listening in advance.
